Architecture shoot preview assignment

This is an angles and shapes photo because the picture is taken from a bottom to looking up angle.

This is a surrounding picture because even though there is other building surrounding the main one but it still the main building.

This picture here is a light picture because there is an area where natural and artificial light create a dramatic scene.

This is a pattern picture because it shows rectangular openings repeatedly.
This is a detail photo becasue it shows the details very close up that are on the building.

Caption Writing Practice

  1. First sentence includes  major information about the photo (who, what, where, when, why, how). You may make up the information for this assignment
  2. First sentence should be written in present tense as if the action of the photo is still happening.
  3. Second sentence should be past tense, and should include background information.
  4. Information in caption should not be obvious by looking at the photo.
  5. If there are three or fewer recognizable people in the photo.
Courtney Jackson is at the Akins High School and is very excited to be their. Akins had won the game and took the winning trophy.

Brandon Watsin aims at the basket carefully, he needs this shot to win the game. He made the shot in the last few seconds and won the game.

Mergers because there is another student behind him and you can only see his arm whit looks like another part of the main subject.

Gabe Maldonado is consintraiting on his art piece so he can get an award for it. He got the first place award the judges really liked his work.

Rule of thirds because the main subject is placed in the right corner

While she teached class about owls Mrs.Sanches decided to bring a real life owl. The students learned better with the real life owl in the class.

Simplicity because the owl is very close up and nuthing distracts you from it.
Mergers because the man in the back looks wrong behind the owl like that.

Sports/Action more details

1. Name of photographer -Alyssa Schukar
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)-

List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio -
All the pictures were of a certain distance and not gettin up close in personal and not feeling the love or the pain in these pictures. They are all kind of alike and similar.

List two things the judges like-
They like the background in a certain picture.
The other picture when the girl fell down the herdels.
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
I didin't like that most of the first pictures were kind of alike and similar they needed to get more into detail.

2. Watch the winning portfolio critique (Dustin Snipes), and post the following:
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?
That the photographer was very creative while taking these pictures. He was actually thinking while he shot the photos.

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?
A strength is the way he takes the pictures like the viewpoint and how he catched up with the runners to take that picture. I like his creativity and the way he makes people kind of pose in the photo.

3. They would look at all the pictures and say what they thought about it and what were the good things and bad things. They discussed if it was a good picture and if it had apoint to it and things like that and see which one was the best one.

Warm Up

I feel like they are actually trying to help the people of Japan from what just happend. This photo has the rule of thirds in it because the main subject (the man) is in the bottom right corner.
I feel bad to see this and realize what the people of Japan are going through. This picture has Depth because you can actually feel like your in the picture.

This picture is a little bit less badder than the others. This picture has the rule of lines with the streets and the fence in the side of it.

Cover Types Notes

Cover types
1. Early magazine Covers
Has no photo more like a painting. Tend to use big color spots and also no date line, price line, or barcode. They are very simple. Subject matters were church related, good, and evil.

2.The Poster Cover
Small words and with a picture. The set of words on there talk about the picture. Has to be a really good picture to catch people's attention so that they could but it.

3.Pictures Married to Type
Less color and text. Most text is on the left side. The text is involved in the picture. Not as many entry points and a little more dull.

4.In the Forest of Words
Different font size , different color, placed in different places and using different fonts. When the text is over the picture so you can look at both at the same time.

Portrait and Self-Portrait tips and ideas

Settings—The Other Subject
The settings in which you make pictures of people are important because they add to the viewer's understanding of your subject. The room in which a person lives or works, their house, the city street they walk, the place in which they seek relaxation—whatever it is, the setting provides information about people and tells us something about their lives. Seek balance between subject and environment. Include enough of the setting to aid your image, but not so much that the subject is lost in it.

Photographing your shadow is another way to do a self-portrait. Shoot early or late, when the sun is low in the sky. A light, stucco wall, a sidewalk, or any other simple background can suffice. Just be sure there aren't a lot of distractions around the surface you choose.

Use your imagination! A self-portrait can reveal a lot about you, by including props and even other people that are meaningful in your life. If you've never attempted to shoot a self-portrait, expand your creative horizons and give it a try.

Environmental Portraits
This is one of my favorite environmental portraits because i like how the background has nothing so the viewer dosent get distracted by anything behind the main subject. I also like the way that man is posing and is not looking directly at the camera.

This is another one of my favorite environmental portraits because i like how it is simple and you can tell a whole story by just looking at this picture. I just love the way it came out and the rules its using.

Self-Portraits
I really like what they did with this picture because they took a picture of this persons face and put like camaflauge spots on the face so you can bearly see it and i just think thats very creative and unique. It also makes you look at it for a while to figure out what really is going on in the picture.

This is another of my favorite self portraits because they really zoomed in into the girls face. There are no distractions its only her full face.

My plan for my portrait assignment is to shoot my partner and i want to shoot somewhere outside in a bench with a couple of trees around, i want the person in the picture to look somewhere else and not directly to the camera, as if no one where there just her. The picture has to be in good focus. I do not want no other person on the background because the person on the bench is my main subject.

Welcome Back!!

This is one of my favorite pictures because i like the way the shape the girl forms with her body, hands, and hair. I also like how the backround blends in with the girl. It is just like a crazy party picture.

This picture is very symmetrical. Its very straight the dancers form a lot of shapes with the dance moves. They are all doing the exact same movement and looks very perfect.

I really like this picture because of the bright colors. Also the crazy hats the both models are wearing and the make up really pops out there face wich really catches a lot of attention especially the plain black backround makes them more visible.

1.What was the best song of 2010?
Fireworks
I picked this song because it is very catchy and I really like to listen to it. I like the rythm of it and the whole song, i just really enjoy singing along. Its one of my favorite songs now too.

2.What was the best movie of 2010?
I chose this movie because it is an action movie. Also because it was a very mysterious movie that had many suprises in it that you just could not expect. I really like this movie its like a lot of action and it is not boring at all. It is confusing movie at first but at the end it you will figure it all out.

3. What was the most important news story of the year?
Arizona passes though anti llegal immigration Law.
I think this was the most important news of the year 2010 because it was a big deal a lot of people started to freak out because of that. They also started to move from states or the way they looked. Also because there is a lot of immigration going on.

4. Who was the most important person of 2010?
I picked Barack Obama because he is the president of the United States. He is the one that everyone should know. He is in charge of everything and the one that says what is going to be done. What happens in the United States is because of him. So he is the most important person of 2010.

5. What was the biggest sports OR entertainment, story OR sports/entertainment person of 2010 (you should google what is appropriate for your choice)

Cristiano Ronaldo is a very good player and i just found out about him in 2010. He is my favorite soccer player out of all the rest. I also love to watch soccer so thats another reason why i chose him because he plays it. He is one of the best players too. I like how he plays and scores many goals.

1. Tell me what is the one thing that happened on your holiday that you will remember? It can be a trip, a family visit, a present, something fun.
